Chattahoochee Adult Leader Nominations

Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to serve the youth in the Chattahoochee District?

Then nominate them for one of several awards being presented at the Chattahoochee Adult Volunteer Recognition Banquet in May.

Nominations are now being accepted for Cub Scout Leader of the Year, Scout BSA Leader of the Year, Cubmaster of the Year, Scoutmaster of the Year, and District Award of Merit. Please use the nomination form and complete it for each and every Scouter you know that goes the extra mile for Scouts in our District.  Nomination deadline is April 16, 2026.

Do you want to learn more about these awards before you submit a nomination?  

Scouting offers a wide range of awards designed to recognize the dedication, leadership, and impact of our volunteers at every level. These awards generally fall into a few key categories:

• Program-Specific Awards (e.g., Den Leader, Scoutmaster, Advisor of the Year):
  These recognize volunteers who have gone above and beyond within a specific role or program area. They are typically based on performance, leadership, and the positive impact made on youth and units within that program.
• Training and Tenure-Based Awards (Square Knot Awards):
  These awards are earned by completing defined requirements such as training, years of service, and demonstrated leadership. Examples include the Scouter’s Training Award and various “Key” awards for unit and district leaders.
• District and Council Distinguished Service Awards:
  These honors, such as the District Award of Merit, are awarded through nomination and recognize exceptional service that has made a significant impact at the district or council level.
• Special Recognition & Nomination-Based Awards:
  Some awards are presented for extraordinary service, unique contributions, or significant achievements and require nomination and approval. These may include council, regional, or national recognitions.

Each award has its own specific eligibility criteria and requirements, which may include tenure, training completion, measurable impact, or nomination by peers.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to review the award descriptions and requirements before submitting your nomination—this helps ensure your nominee is recognized in the most appropriate and meaningful way.

Cub Scout Leader of the Year

• The award is available to all registered Cub Scout Den Leaders, Assistant Den Leaders, Assistant Cubmasters, Pack Committee Chairs and Pack Committee Member, who render service of an outstanding nature at the pack level.

• It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this honor. 

• It is not appropriate to nominate a Cubmaster for this honor.

Cubmaster of the Year

• The award is available to all registered Cubmasters who render service of an outstanding nature at the pack level.

• It is not appropriate to nominate a Cubmaster who has already received this honor. 

Scouts BSA Leader of the Year

• The award is available to registered Assistant Scoutmaster, Troop Committee Chairs, Troop Committee Members and Merit Badge Counselors who render service of an outstanding nature at the troop level.

• It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this honor.

• It is not appropriate to nominate s Scoutmaster for this honor.

Scoutmaster of the Year

• The award is available to all registered Scoutmasters who render service of an outstanding nature at the troop level.

• It is not appropriate to nominate a Scoutmaster who has already received this honor. 

District Award of Merit

• The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level.

• The award is made available annually on the basis of 1 for each 25 traditional units or fraction thereof. The district need not present all the awards to which it is entitled each year.
• It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award.
• A professional Scouter or other council employee may not receive this award based on employment service. However, a professional Scouter or employee who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service.

Chairman's Award

• This award is intended for individuals who may not yet meet the criteria for the District Award of Merit—or who have already received it—but continue to contribute in meaningful and impactful ways.

• It gives the district the opportunity to recognize those who are actively strengthening Scouting today, whether they are rising leaders or experienced volunteers who just keep showing up and making things better.

Commissioner of the Year Award

• This award is selected by the District Commissioner.
