District Award of Merit
The District Award of Merit is the highest recognition our district can present to a volunteer. It honors individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on Scouting through service, leadership, and dedication beyond their own unit.
This award recognizes those who strengthen the district as a whole—supporting leaders, improving programs, and helping ensure more youth have access to a high-quality Scouting experience.
Eligibility & Criteria
Nominees must be registered adult volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional service at the district level.
- Meaningful impact beyond a single unit
- Sustained service over time
- Leadership that supports and strengthens multiple units or programs
- A clear commitment to the values and mission of Scouting
There is no minimum tenure requirement, but nominees should have a proven record of contribution and influence within the district.
Who Should Be Nominated?
This award is intended for volunteers whose efforts benefit the broader Scouting community.
- District committee members and chairs
- Commissioners and program leaders
- Volunteers supporting district events or multiple units
- Leaders who consistently step in, solve problems, and elevate Scouting for others
If someone makes your job—and Scouting overall—better, they are worth nominating.
How to Nominate
- Complete the nomination form
- Provide specific examples of the nominee’s impact
- Emphasize district-level service, not just unit involvement
- Submit before the deadline
Selection & Recognition
Recipients are selected by a district committee based on the strength of submitted nominations. A limited number of awards are presented each year and are typically recognized at the district’s annual awards event.
