Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation is a requirement to take your Cub Scouts camping. A minimum of one BALOO trained leader must be present at all times on any Cub campout. It is recommended for all Cub Scout leaders.
This course is fun, informative, and a great weekend camping Cub Scout style (but without the scouts). It covers many aspects of the outdoor program so you will be confident and prepared to safely take your cubs into the outdoors.
Prior to this course you shoud go online to my.scouting.org and complete part one of this course. Please bring your completion certificate when you check-in. Participants must also bring a copy of their YPT certificate and a BSA medical form, parts A and B.
This is an overnight event and you will be camping in your own tent for one night. The following meals are provided: Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast. Meals will be prepared together as a group. Please let us know if you have any severe allergies or special dietary needs and we will attempt to accomodate.
Participants should arrive Saturday morning in your complete BSA field uniform. ( aka Class A ). You should also bring your Class B shirt or any other Scout appropriate T-shirt to wear during portions of the training. Uniform pants or blue jeans, plus sturdy outdoor shoes should be worn. No open toe shoes, slides or flip-flops may be worn in the camping area. Please check the weather and bring the appropriate gear and clothing. This event is held entirely outdoors.
Check-in is promptly at 8:00 AM Saturday morning at the Craft Shelter on Scoutland Scout Camp. Attendees may optionally arrive after 5:00 PM Friday night. The training will run all day Saturday through mid-day Sunday and participants must camp overnight and be present for all of the events to receive a completion.
