Cherokee Advance-a-rama

 

The Cherokee District is having its Fall Advance-A-Rama at the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources (180 Greene Street, Athens, GA 30602).  Check-in Begins at 7:30 AM.  Scouts will be available for pickup at 3:00 PM.  All Scouts are invited!  Each Scout will have the opportunity to take one exciting (full day) class of their choice.

In the Golf merit badge under the Disc Golf Section(p6 of worksheet) Research and be ready to discuss: Item C: Do the following

  • (1) tell about the history of disc golf and why it is an inclusive game.
  • (2) Discuss with your counselor the contribution Ed Headrick made to the sport of disc golf
  • (3) Describe the evolution of disc design
  • (4) Tell about the accomplishments of a top disc golfer of your choice.

Item D: Do the Following:

  • (1) Tell how disc golf can contribute to a healthy lifestyle, mentally and physically.
  • (2) Tell how a disc golf exercises that would help improve your game. 

Item G: Find out about 3 careers related to disc golf. Pick one and identify the education, training, and experience required for this process.

Moviemaking - Full 12 13 0 Req:2d Please come prepared with a written idea (2-3 sentences) for a video that teaches a scout skill to a new scout. Please bring whatever prop(s) you may need to be able to make your video idea (for example if your video idea is how to pitch a tent you would need to bring a tent). Please be creative, but avoid any ideas involving fire. All except #4,#7 & #8

# 1- Requirement 1: Before starting work on any other requirements for this merit badge, write in your own words the meaning of sustainability. Explain how you think conservation and stewardship of our natural resources relate to sustainability. Have a family meeting, and ask family members to write down what they think sustainability means. Be sure to take notes. You will need this information again for requirement #2 - Bring a copy of a water bill and an energy bill from home. You can mark our names etc. #3 - Lunch will be offsite. Please bring lunch

Refund policy for Northeast Georgia Council, BSA: Payments for Scouting events are non-refundable. Event fees can be credited towards another NEGA Council events taking place during the same calendar year as the original event.
