What is TrailJam?

TrailJam is a worldwide Scouting event that encourages Scouts and Scouters to get outdoors and enjoy nature together. Each year, Scouts across the globe participate on the second Saturday in May, spending time hiking, exploring trails, and appreciating the outdoors.

The Etowah District continues its tradition of combining TrailJam with a community service project, allowing Scouts to give back while enjoying the outdoors.

TrailJam 2026 Service Project

This year, Etowah District Scouts will be helping with trail maintenance at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, one of Forsyth County’s most beautiful public parks.

Scouts and volunteers will assist with light trail maintenance such as:

  • Clearing brush from trails

  • Raking leaves and debris

  • Blocking unofficial “social trails” that have developed over time

These efforts help preserve the trails for the thousands of visitors who enjoy the preserve each year.

Enjoy the Trails After You Serve

After completing the service project, units are encouraged to stay and explore the preserve together.

Sawnee Mountain Preserve offers:

  • Scenic hiking trails

  • Beautiful forest and mountain views

  • Educational nature exhibits

  • The famous Indian Seats overlook

Units can plan a short hike, enjoy lunch together, or explore the park’s facilities after helping with the service project.
