What Is University of Scouting?
Formerly known as Cub Scout Pow Wow, University of Scouting is for all BSA leaders (Cub, Boy Scout, and
Venturing) It is more than just another training course. It is a Scout leaders’ learning extravaganza, an annual gathering
where knowledge, skills and enthusiasm are shared! University of Scouting does not take the place of other Scout
Basic Training, but is a supplement to these trainings. University of Scouting is fun for all leaders both old and new.
2006 University of Scouting Cub Leader Book
The 1st Edition of the University of Scouting book is an awesome resource for Cub leaders, at both the den and pack
levels. It contains theme related hints, ceremonies, songs, and many new ideas. Every year the book contains unique
materials and plans for this Scouting year. The book is available in printed or CD format. The fee for the book or CD
is $12.50 if received by October 13th, or $15.00 if received after October 13th. You can buy more than one copy of the
University of Scouting book at the same price. Please indicate your choice of format on the registration form.
Lunch
Chick Fil-A Lunch is included in the registration fee only if registration is received in the Jefferson Service Center by
October 13th. Refreshments will also be available for purchase during the day.
Den Chief Training Offered
Den Leaders - Bring your Den Chief so that he can receive training to be a more effective Den Chief. Registration is
required on a Den Chief Registration Form. These are available in each Scout Shop and on our website at www.nega-bsa.org.
Bring a Friend - Save Money On Your Registration
Make University of Scouting a fun filled day. Encourage other volunteers in your unit to attend, especially new leaders.
Save money, share a ride and join in on the fun and learning. If you register by October 13th the fee for one is $12.50.
Register with a buddy and pay $20.00 for two. Register as a group and pay $55.00 for six. Over six is $9.00 each. It is
important for your payment to be received in the Council
Service Center at the same time by October 13th.

Children?
There are NO provisions for children at University of Scouting. Please arrange for a sitter at home.
Trading Post
The Trading Post will be open for business with many Scout items for sale at reduced special University of
Scouting prices. Craft kits, program supplies, collectors’ patches, gift items, Scout books, etc. will be
for sale. The Trading Post will be open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, except when there is a program &quo;on stage&quo;.
Special Offer on Pinewood Derby Cars
Only at University of Scouting! Buy your cars by the case at the special sale price of $32.00 + tax (12 cars
per case). Each car in the case of 12 will come with its very own collectors carrying case. Regular price at
Scout Shop is $5.00 each. No individual car sales. This is a savings of almost $30 a case. Bring a pack or
personal check to take advantage of this super offer! Credit cards (VISA, Master Card and Discover) are also accepted.
Class Registration
After September 1st you will receive confirmation by email. This confirmation e-mail will contain a web
address and password for you to register for your classes online.
Dress
Please wear your Scout uniform. Leaders who do not yet have a uniform may wear street clothes.
