anselJanuary’s field shoot has been replaced with what is sure to be a warmer, cozier field trip to the Booth Western Museum in Cartersville to view the special exhibit “Ansel Adams: A Legacy”. Showcasing more than 130 photographs by famed landscape photographer Ansel Adams, this exhibition is a tribute to one of the 20th century’s most admired artists. Many of Adams’ most famous images are included and presented in the more intimate scale he intended them to be viewed. These prints were originally created by the artist himself in his California darkroom and given to The Friends of Photography to represent his legacy. The exhibit includes a video of Adams on his work and a re-creation of the type of photo lab he used to produce his prints.

The field trip is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19. Members who wish to carpool for the approximate 1 1/2 hour drive to Cartersville should meet in front of the Art Center by 8:30 a.m. If anyone wishes to carpool from Ellijay, please notify Ned Rand or Joyce Dumas. If you will need to return early please plan to meet us at the museum by 10 a.m. The museum entrance fee is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors. For further information on the exhibit, visit the Booth Museum website at www.boothmuseum.org   [Note: Flash photography is prohibited in the museum.] We plan to have lunch afterwards at Fuddruckers in Cartersville.
